The Board of Directors of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB), at its latest meeting yesterday afternoon, agreed to select the bid of the company Genesis BCN Project as the most advantageous proposal in the public tender for the management of a service establishment at the Artrutx lighthouse (Menorca). Its proposal stands out for its architectural integration, sustainability and respect for the environment.

Genesis BCN Project has planned an overall investment of almost 1.8 million euros, which includes refurbishment, improvement of facilities and adaptation of the space for responsible use. The main improvements include the installation of lightweight wooden and reed platforms and pergolas combined with gardens of indigenous vegetation, the installation of photovoltaic panels integrated into the roof and not visible from the outside, the provision of charging points for electric vehicles and personal mobility bicycles, the replacement of old roofs and the repair of leaks, as well as the improvement of the outdoor paving with limestone. Sustainable materials and water-saving systems will also be used, as well as rainwater harvesting.

Genesis BCN Project's proposal is compatible with the urban planning regulations and with the operation of the lighthouse, without altering its volumetry or its aesthetic characteristics. The project incorporates specific solutions so that the exterior lighting does not interfere with the maritime signal.

This concession, which will have a maximum duration of 11 years and 11 months, will allow the continuity of the restaurant located in this emblematic lighthouse, which has been open to the public since 2009. Until now, management has been carried out by means of short-term temporary authorisations.
