The Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) has received three bids to take over the management of the former Marítimo bar, located in the Santo Domingo de la Calzada square in the port of Palma. The proposals were submitted by the companies Gran Wok Taste S.L., Mallorca Yachting Rental S.L. and Marport Sunbeach S.L., once the deadline established in the public tender called by the port authority ended.
The opening of this procedure is part of the APB's strategy to recover and revitalise iconic spaces of the port front, promoting new uses open to the public and enhancing integration between the port and the city.
The building, located next to the Santo Domingo gardens and the Es Jonquet neighbourhood, will continue to operate as a bar-café and restaurant. The lease also includes the operation of a terrace on the upper floor and another exterior terrace facing the main façade, in one of the most recognisable locations on the Palma seafront promenade.
The contracting committee will now analyse the official documentation and the technical and economic proposals submitted by the three bidding companies, with the aim of selecting the most advantageous bid according to the criteria set out in the tender specifications.
The competition includes a concession of up to twelve years and stipulates the obligation to adapt the facilities while respecting the heritage and landscape environment of the area, near an area protected as a Property of Cultural Interest (BIC, in its initials in Spanish).
