The German tour operator TUI and the joint venture formed by Sercomisa (Trasmapi), ALSA and Barcos Azules are the companies bidding for the new public port transport service Bus Nàutic Palma.
The initiative of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) aims to connect different points of the port of Palma and offer a sustainable mobility alternative that contributes to improving accessibility, reducing land traffic and strengthening the port-city relationship. The Palma Bus Nàutic is part of the Mobility Plan developed by the APB as part of the remodelling of the seafront promenade.
The project will have a minimum of three lines and an initial fleet of at least four low-emission vessels with a capacity of 100 passengers each. The main stops will include Maritime Station No. 6 on the West Quay, the Poniente Quay, the Golondrinas Quay, Portitxol and the royal steps of the Lonja Quay. The service will operate every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will extend its timetable to midnight at weekends.
The Bus Nàutic Palma will be integrated into a broader Mobility Plan that seeks to transform the port-city area into a more accessible and sustainable space for pedestrians and cyclists.
This APB initiative, together with the recent introduction of a new EMT circular line along the Paseo Marítimo, represents a paradigm shift in public mobility for this artery of the city, whose transformation promotes traffic calming and returns the space to pedestrians.
